Help Shape Georgia's Senior Advocacy: Call for Legislative Issues Now Open!

The Georgia Council on Aging (GCOA) is accepting legislative issue submissions from CO-AGE voting members from April 14 through May 10, 2025. This is your chance to identify challenges facing older adults in Georgia and propose solutions that could lead to real legislative action.

Each year, GCOA relies on ideas from individuals and organizations across the state to guide its advocacy work at the Capitol. Past issue submissions have resulted in meaningful legislative wins that improved services, protections, and resources for Georgia’s seniors.

What Should You Submit?

We welcome ideas that address a pressing problem impacting older adults in Georgia and that could be resolved or improved through legislative action.

Your submission should include:

  • A clear description of the problem and your proposed solution

  • Explanation of why legislative action is needed

  • Supporting research, data, or evidence

  • Reference to any relevant Georgia statute (if applicable)

  • Contact information for additional groups who may support your issue

While your idea doesn’t need to be fully developed, please provide enough detail and background for our Legislative Committee to build a strong proposal for the upcoming session.

Need Help?

GCOA staff and Council members are here to support you! If you need help refining your idea or gathering additional information, we encourage you to collaborate with experts or relevant organizations.

Contact Ashley Burton at 404-281-0430 with questions or for guidance.

Deadline: May 10, 2024

Don't miss this opportunity to be a voice for Georgia’s aging population. Together, we can create lasting change.
