During this meeting you will hear directly from legislators on the best ways to interact with them during legislative session while advocating for your interests. You will also hear success stories from CO-AGE partners who will provide personal accounts and best practices for advocacy. Additionally, you will be updated on the progress that the 2025 CO-AGE priorities are making in the work groups as well as the latest news from the Georgia Division of Aging Services and the CO-AGE network.

CO-AGE Announcements
Join a work group! Meetings are held via Zoom and last for an hour. This is a time to flesh out the issues, collect all the necessary data and information, and ultimately determine the best strategies to bring about change. CO-AGE priority work groups are critical to the success of our advocacy efforts as we prepare for the 2025 legislative session.
October Work Groups will meet on the following dates:
Budget Work Group - Tuesday, 10/8/24 at 10am
Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) Work Group - Tuesday, 10/8/24 at 1pm
Supportive Decision Making Work Group - Thursday, 10/10/24 at 10am
Multidisciplinary Teams for Adult Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation Work Group - Thursday, 10/17/24 at 2pm

Anyone interested in advocating with or on behalf of older adults can join CO-AGE. Individual Membership is only $10! Paid members have the distinctive ability to submit and vote on the issues that GCOA and CO-AGE take to the Capitol and they receive reduced rates for CO-AGE events. Join HERE!

GCOA in the Community
In September, GCOA council member Vicki Johnson presented to seniors at the Forsyth County Senior Services, Sexton Hall Enrichment Center. Vicki presented on GCOA and CO-AGE including information on the legislative process, how we advocate for older adults and the benefits of joining CO-AGE. She was joined by GCOA Deputy Director, Ashley Burton. Seniors were also encouraged to attend our upcoming Senior Week at the Capitol in February 2025!
