Feb 28: Rep Sharon Cooper (R-Marietta) presented HB 987 in the Georgia House and it passed overwhelmingly 160–1. This is a huge victory for GCOA and CO-AGE. HB 987 would “increase training requirements and safety protections for seniors in assisted living and large personal care homes. It would also increase fines for abuse and neglect in homes in the rapidly growing industry that cares for thousands of elderly Georgians.” When the legislature reconvenes, HB 987 will head to the Senate and GCOA will be there every step of the way!
