Governor Kemp Announces $6M In Grants To 13 Rural Hospitals
In this Issue:
Governor Kemp announced grant awards totaling $6 million to 13 Georgia rural hospitals as part of the Dual Track Rural Hospital Support program. The selected hospitals were awarded between $250,000 and $1 million each to further strengthen access to quality care for Georgia’s rural communities.
The Dual Track Rural Hospital Support Grant is funded through the state’s Rural Hospital Stabilization Grant, which was established in 2014, and has awarded more than $40 million in grant funding for Georgia rural hospitals

GA Department of Human Services Updates
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Cooling Assistance, administered by the Georgia Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Division of Family & Children Services, is available through July 31, 2024, or until funds are exhausted. This federally funded program assists low-income, elderly, and disabled Georgians with cooling bills through direct payments to home energy suppliers. The application period for LIHEAP Cooling Assistance opened on April 1, 2024, to Georgians aged 65 years of age and older or those who are medically homebound. All other eligible residents are now able to apply as well. More information HERE.
GCOA in the Community
Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services held the 25th annual Healthy Aging Conference. The three day conference included seminars and break out sessions on aging related topics where GCOA Executive Director, Debra Stokes gave a presentation on Advocating for Aging Related Policies. A.G. Rhodes CEO, Deke Cateau spoke at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new memory care unit opening. Metro Atlanta is one of the country’s fastest-aging regions and 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime (Alzheimer’s Association).Read more on the Grand Opening.
