Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation are the 21st century plagues on vulnerable populations like seniors. Because our elder population is growing, unfortunately so is elder abuse. Every year an estimated 5 million, or 1 in 10, older Americans are victims of elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation. And that's only part of the picture: Experts believe that for every case of elder abuse or neglect reported, as many as 23.5 cases go unreported. (Source: NCEA) We have decided to dedicate a page to Elder Abuse to keep you informed on what is going on locally as well as nationally on this issue. Awareness is increasing, but we have a long way to go to prevent the crimes and to prosecute the perpetrators. Stay informed by visiting this page for updates.
