Distinguished Older Georgian 2022

Congratulations to Mrs. Pat Viles Freeman for being nominated as the 2022 Distinguished Older Georgian! Ms. Freeman worked in the administration of human service for over 40 years, retiring in January 2021.  She served as CEO at Legacy Link designated by the Georgia Department of Human Services as the Area Agency on Aging Disability Resource Center for the Georgia Mountain regions consisting of 13 counties. 

Ms. Freeman graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a BS in Education. She served on the regional Workforce Development Board and the Human Services Delivery and Administration Community Advisory Board at the University of North Georgia. Mrs. Freeman was President of the Georgia Association of AAA’s, Georgia Gerontology Society, and Hall County Rotary Club. Also, she served as a long-time member of N4A and SE4A. Serving on the SE4A Board for many years.   

Ms. Freeman has served as a mentor to many in the field of aging whether they be in an Area Agency on Aging or in the field of Gerontology. She has shown true leadership in the Georgia Aging Network. Her commitment to serving older adults and individuals with disabilities is remarkable. Her passion, work ethic, kindness and agility are to be commended. She served as a true visionary and Georgia is fortunate to have her advocacy, leadership and especially her servant’s heart. The staff at Legacy Link are fortunate to have been led by her guidance and leadership over the years. Through Ms. Freeman’s vision and guidance and leading by example, many lives have been touched throughout her service as CEO of The Legacy Link, Incorporated.
